Why do the Bonita trek with camping?

A trekking experience through the Lençóis Maranhenses for those who want to walk among dunes and lagoons and spend a night camping in the middle of the National Park landscape.

30 km of hiking | 1 night of camping

For those who want to experience the Lençóis Maranhenses in a more immersive way, this trip combines two days of trekking with one night of camping among the dunes.

The route passes through the Oásis Baixa Grande, with time to enjoy the lagoons, and continues to the Lagoa Bonita area.

Instead of returning at the end of the first day, the group camps during the crossing. The camping setup is handled by the team, while a support guide accompanies the group to carry the gear needed for the campsite.

It's an experience for those who love to hike, connect with nature, and enjoy a different kind of night in the Lençóis.

Camping

The group is picked up at their inns starting at 4:30 AM in Barreirinhas. For participants staying in Atins, boarding starts at 6:30 AM.

In 4x4 vehicles, we drive for about 2 hours toward the National Park, up to the area near the Rio Negro.

Along the way, we stop for a breakfast snack and to watch the sunrise.

From there, the hike begins, about 6 km, lasting an average of 2 to 3 hours, to the Oásis Baixa Grande, with a stop to swim in the lagoons.

Arrival at the oasis is expected around 10:30 AM, followed by lunch.

After resting, we resume hiking for another 6 km to our camping area.

Upon arrival, the team sets up the campsite and prepares the trail dinner.

Overnight: camping area in the Lençóis Maranhenses.

Barreirinhas

Breakfast, prepared by the guide, is served at 4:30 AM, and at 5:00 AM we start hiking toward the Lagoa Bonita.

This is the longest stretch of the tour, with about 18 km of hiking.

Along the way, we enjoy the sunrise and make stops to swim in the lagoons and take in the scenery.

Arrival at the Lagoa Bonita area is expected around 10:00 AM, where lunch is served.

After a short rest, we head back to Barreirinhas in a private 4x4 vehicle.

The tour ends with participants being dropped off at their inns.
