An intense experience through the Lençóis

A 30 km trek through the heart of the Lençóis Maranhenses, spending one night at Oásis Baixa Grande and crossing dunes and lagoons all the way to the Lagoa Bonita area.

The Bonita Trail is an option for those who want to experience walking through the heart of the Lençóis Maranhenses in just two days.

The tour combines full immersion in the dunes and lagoons of the National Park with a night at Oásis Baixa Grande, where the group stays in hammocks at a local family home.

On the second day, the route is longer and more intense, with about 24 km of hiking to the Lagoa Bonita area. Departure is before dawn, allowing you to catch the sunrise and enjoy the lagoons along the way.

This is an experience recommended for people fit for long hikes over sandy terrain.

Baixa Grande OasisDay 1

Barreirinhas → Oásis Baixa Grande

Baixa Grande Oasis

Hiking: approximately 6 km

Hiking time: 2 to 3 hours

Overnight: Baixa Grande Oasis

The day starts early. Pickup in Barreirinhas begins at 4:30 AM, with participants collected at their guesthouses. For participants staying in Atins, pickup begins at 6:30 AM.

We head out in a 4x4 vehicle toward the Rio Negro area, on an off-road route of about two hours along the access road to the National Park.

Along the way, we make a stop for breakfast and to watch the sunrise.

From there, the hike through the heart of the Lençóis begins. It's approximately 6 km to the Baixa Grande Oasis, with stops to swim in the lagoons and moments to take in the scenery.

Arrival at the oasis is expected around 10:30 AM.

After lunch and a rest period, we return to the dunes to enjoy the lagoons and watch the sunset.

At the end of the day, we head back to the community for dinner and to spend the night in a hammock at a local family's home.

Included this day: breakfast, lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

Destination: Lagoa Bonita village

The second day starts before dawn. Breakfast is served around 2:30 AM and, at 3 AM, we begin the hike.

It's approximately 24 km to the Lagoa Bonita area, with an average duration of 7 to 9 hours.

During the hike, we make stops to swim in the lagoons and to watch the sunrise.

Arrival at Lagoa Bonita village is expected around 11 AM. After arriving, lunch will be served and we'll have a short rest period.

Then, a 4x4 vehicle will handle the return transfer to Barreirinhas, dropping participants off at their guesthouses.

With the return to Barreirinhas, the experience comes to an end.
